During today’s Thinkers50 Podcast, Pankaj Ghemawat joins Des Dearlove. Pankaj Ghemawat was the youngest ever appointed professor at Harvard Business School and he is now at IESE Business School in Spain.
Des asks Pankaj about his book World 3.0 and what’s wrong with World 1.0 and 2.0. Pankaj talks about how when he was taking Macroeconomics in graduate school, on the last day of his course his professor said that these were all closed economy models. He considers these closed economy models, or country-specific economies, to be World 1.0.
World 2.0 is the current belief, where national borders don’t matter at all and cross-border integration is nearly complete. World 3.0 is the worldview that globalization and regulation can help each other.
In this podcast:
- Dispelling myths about cross-border integration
- Multilateral coordination
- Can integration and globalization be reversed?
