Ideas

Andrew Cooper’s career has been dedicated to building businesses rooted in ethical leadership, from serving as the first millennial and black GC at UPS Airlines to his current position at Meta. He is deeply committed to building a future where leadership prioritises social impact over profit and his new book, The Ethical Imperative, challenges business leaders to rethink their roles and responsibilities in a rapidly evolving world. In it, he exposes the critical threat of public disengagement from businesses and institutions, urging a departure from outdated, profit-only models that harm corporations, consumers, and communities alike and provides actionable strategies to transform organisations into beacons of trust and social responsibility.

Bio

Associate General Counsel, Strategic Transactions and Head of Patent Acquisition at Meta, Andrew was previously VP, Global Government Contracts Compliance Officer at UPS. He began writing after migrating with his parents from a single-wide trailer in the deep south to a small island off the coast of Japan. Born in Walterboro, South Carolina, Andrew’s journey to Okinawa would spark a life-long interest in humanity, technology, and the intersection of the two. After receiving his doctorate from Emory University, he joined the legal leadership teams of multiple Fortune 500 companies, rising in responsibility to General Counsel of UPS – the youngest and first African American to assume the role.
