Alex’s work focuses on cultivating courage and character. He provides practical frameworks for leading with integrity, empathy, and measurable impact. Alex’s idea of “changemaking” functions as an accessible leadership operating system adopted by executives, students, and organisations around the world. His research and global teaching emphasise that courage and values-driven action matter more than hierarchy or formal authority.
Formerly a travel writer, Alex is a UC Berkeley faculty member and holds a triple appointment at the Haas School of Business, School of Public Health, and College of Natural Resources. In 2012, he co-founded fundraising platform StartSomeGood, which has raised more than $12 million to launch and scale new initiatives in more than 50 countries.
