Ideas

Hatim’s research investigates how artificial intelligence, undergirded by algorithms, is impacting the nature of work and employment relationships in organisations and labour markets. He focuses on algorithmic management and evaluations and digital platforms, in the field of the sociology of work and occupations. Hatim’s research has earned him several awards including the Academy of Management Best Published Paper Award (CTO Division) 2022 and 2023. His published articles have been recognised for both their theoretical and empirical impact by the Academy of Management, the Labor and Employment Relations Association, the Psychology of Technology Institute, the Industry Studies Association, and the International Conference on Information Systems.

Bio

Hatim is an assistant professor of management and organisations at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Prior to joining Kellogg, he received his PhD and master’s in management science and engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in business administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Hatim sits on the editorial board of Administrative Science Quarterly and his research and teaching have received coverage from a variety of news sources including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Forbes, and Business Insider.
