An industrial entrepreneur who works in particular with early-stage start-ups, Ketokivi’s academic research and teaching focus on the economics of organization, operations management, and research methods. His special interest is in contemporary views on general management and governance, topics that he approaches primarily from a practice-based perspective, and he focuses on theories of the firm, research methodology, scientific reasoning, argumentation, and philosophy of science.
Professor of operations management and organization design at IE University, Madrid, Ketokivi holds a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Minnesota. He teaches, or has taught, at business schools in the United States, France, Switzerland, Spain, and in his native Finland. Ketokivi is currently a distinguished visiting scholar at the Center for Values-Driven Leadership at the Benedictine University, Chicago.
