A passionate Pan-African dedicated to transforming Africa through good leadership, Modupe’s vision is to transform Africa into a middle-income continent by 2030 and a
high-income continent by 2040, and this vision guides every decision that he makes. Every problem faced by a leader in Africa, he says, has already been solved by another leader in Africa. His leadership enhancement and coaching organisation, BCA, has impacted over 2,000 African leaders with leadership coaching and knowledge-sharing services. His passion for leadership development was born out of his experiences as a military officer serving in combat in the Sierra Leone Civil War, where he was wounded twice in combat.
Born in Sierra Leone and raised in Ghana, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, Modupe is one of the few Africans to ever graduate from the United States Military Academy (West Point). In his post-military career, Modupe was a business turnaround specialist who consulted with and led organisations in Europe, North America, and Africa. He earned a master’s degree in manufacturing and engineering from Cornell University and a PhD in Leadership and Organizational Development from Capella University. His passion for the transformation of Africa spurred him to become the Founding Dean of the African Leadership University School of Business in 2016 and to create BCA Leadership, one of Africa’s largest leadership enhancement and coaching organizations.
Modupe is the author of several books on leadership and entrepreneurship in Africa, including the acclaimed Leadership Made in Africa anthology. He hosts a weekly podcast for leaders in Africa called Success in Africa and is the curator of the Made in Africa Leadership Conference (MLC), an annual learning conference for leaders in Africa.
