LONDON – Thinkers50 (thinkers50.com), the global platform for management thinking, today announced that its Management Hall of Fame is to have a permanent home and exhibition.
The Thinkers50 Hall of Fame honours the legacy of an elite group of thinkers whose work has had a profound and lasting influence on the world of management. From September 2018 the Haier Corporation will host the Hall of Fame at its headquarters in Qingdao, China.
“It has long been our intention to create something real and tangible to celebrate the work of these thinkers and to contribute to our mission of sharing the very best in management thinking,” says Thinkers50 co-founder Des Dearlove. “We have a long-standing relationship with Haier, an organization truly committed to original management ideas and practice, and we are thrilled to have the Haier team involved in building and curating this new exhibit.”
To mark the occasion, two new management thinkers are to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Peter Drucker and CK Prahalad both topped the Thinkers50 ranking in their lifetimes, and they will be the first to join the Hall of Fame posthumously.
Drucker and Prahalad will be honoured at a ceremony on 20 September hosted by Haier in Qingdao. They take their places in an elite group of management thinkers, which includes Charles Handy, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Henry Mintzberg and Tom Peters.
“To be inducted into the Thinkers50 Hall of Fame someone must have had a long-term impact on the way people think about and practice management,” explains Thinkers50 co-founder Stuart Crainer. “Peter Drucker is the father of modern management, and CK Prahalad its most gifted visionary. Their work is more relevant today than ever.”
“Peter Drucker and CK Prahalad are giants of management thinking,” added Des Dearlove. “Each topped the Thinkers50 ranking on two occasions. Inducting them into the Management Hall of Fame posthumously recognises their extraordinary contributions, and is a fitting tribute to launch the new exhibition.”
The Thinkers50 Management Hall of Fame will be housed in Haier’s Centre of Culture and will include a permanent exhibition celebrating the work of the world’s leading management thinkers.
Zhang Ruimin, CEO of the Haier Corporation, says: “It is a great pleasure and honour for Haier to host the Thinkers50 Management Hall of Fame at our headquarters in Qingdao. As a young manager I was hugely influenced by many of the thinkers in the Hall of Fame, and we are especially delighted to induct Peter Drucker and CK Prahalad, whose influence is beyond measure.”
