Daniel and Tommaso have spent over a decade researching platforms. Their work is packaged up in their 2023 book, Platform Thinking: READ the past. WRITE the future, which offers both a framework and practical instruments to champion digital transformation in any type of organisation. Creators of the Platform Thinking Matrix, which summarizes the strategies for fostering innovation through platforms, Daniel and Tommaso also designed four Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), which cover the basic definitions of platforms, the principles of platform design, the peculiarities of data-based mechanisms, and the role of disruptive technologies on platforms mechanisms.
Daniel is senior assistant professor and Tommaso full professor of leadership and innovation at the School of Management, Politecnico di Milano. Daniel also serves as a senior researcher in the LEADIN’Lab, the Laboratory for Leadership, Design, and Innovation, which was co-founded by Tommaso. Daniel and Tommasso are also joint founders of Symplatform, a yearly international conference on digital platforms that aims to match scholars and practitioners. They are co-founders and scientific directors of the Platform Thinking HUB, a community of innovation leaders focusing on platforms. Daniel is the scientific director of IDeaLs, a global research platform co-founded by Tommaso and the Politecnico di Milano.
