Öykü Işik leads IMD’s Cybersecurity for Managers program, which helps businesses develop action plans to identify, prepare for, and respond to emerging and imminent cyber threats. Öykü is a Professor of Digital Strategy and Cybersecurity at IMD and an expert in digital resilience and was selected as a Digital Shaper 2021 by BILANZ and digital Switzerland. Her research explores ways in which emerging technologies can foster responsible innovation and sustainable digital transformation. She has helped businesses and government agencies alike take on issues of cybersecurity, data privacy, and digital ethics. Öykü believes these issues are too important to be left to technical specialists alone.
Currently Öykü is examining digital ethics in public sector organizations, which have been seen as slow to implement new technologies but may actually hold some examples of best practices that could apply to the private sector as well. She is also studying the attitudes and behaviors of young people towards data protection, and their readiness to exchange some privacy for convenience.
